What to Expect

At FCF, we seek to proclaim the manifold wisdom of God through our fellowship and interactions with one another and our worship services. We are a diverse people, adopted into the family of God by the blood of Christ, united in the Gospel. You can expect to see a variety of clothing styles at FCF, reflecting the community of the Texas Hill Country: casual, professional, blue-collar, white-collar. The worship at FCF seeks to strengthen the faith of God’s people and to magnify the Lord and His mighty deeds. The music selection is comprised of songs that contain rich, robust theology and is paired with music composed to bolster congregational singing. You can expect to proclaim God’s Truth together with God’s people through these songs found in the main service, supported frequently by solo piano, and, on occasion, a modest ensemble of classical instruments. You can expect to hear many different types of prayers in the main service such as, prayers of praise and adoration, confession and petition, and thanksgiving, lead by our pastor and men in the congregation. The structure of our main service can be summarized in four words: God, Man, Christ, Response. You can expect God to be heralded from His Word, Man to be humbled by his sin, Christ to be proclaimed as the Savior for sinful man, and a call to respond with trusting in Christ and turning away from sins. The preaching and exposition of God’s Word is central to the structure of the main service.

Worship Style

The Apostle Paul encouraged the Corinthian church that God, “…is not a God of confusion but of peace,” and that, “…all things should be done decently and in order,” when the church meets as an assembled congregation (1 Cor. 14:33; 40). Following the Apostle Paul’s admonition, the liturgy at FCF, or the structure of the main weekly service on the Lord’s Day, seeks to be clear and organized for the edification of God’s People. Our liturgy can be summarized in four words: “God, Man, Christ, Response” with the preaching and exposition of the Word of God central, following the Apostle Paul’s admonition to Timothy: “…devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching,” (1 Tim. 4:13). We begin with a brief time of private prayer and meditation and are then called out by a Prayer of Praise and a Call to Worship found in God’s Word, commanding us to focus and sharpen our attention upon and affections toward the One True God. Following a time of singing theologically rich hymns, spiritual songs, and Scripture together, and at times, a Corporate Confessions of Faith or the Corporate Reading of Scripture, we move to a time of Confession and Petition in prayer, led by our pastor. Here we acknowledge and confess our sins corporately to God, and then move to lifting up our requests and intercessions to Him, ending our prayer with the Assurance of Pardoning Grace, that we have been forgiven of our sin in Christ and that the Lord hears our prayers, as found in God’s Word. After singing together the glories of Christ, we direct our attention to the Reading of the Scripture passage that will be preached and join together for a Prayer of Thanksgiving in hearing and receiving God’s Word. The Word of God is then exposited, proclaimed, and God’s Truth is heralded, we pray, with right handling and the anointing of the Spirit. On the first Sunday of the month, the Lord’s Supper is observed together after the preaching of God’s Word. Who Preaches? Who Teaches?

At FCF, we believe that God accomplishes His purposes through the clear and simple teaching and heralding of His Word. God has clearly spoken in His Word who alone is to teach, preach, and lead the church: the qualified men of the church, primarily the pastors and elders (1 Tim. 2:8-15, 3:1-13; 1 Cor. 4:33b-35). Our Sunday School time is primarily didactic, focused upon teaching God’s Word. This time has a variety of different speakers. Typically, Pastor Carnett or the men of the church will lead this time of instruction through a series. The series is topical, ranging from subjects such as, disicipleship, evangelism, counseling, theology, etc., and, at times, may follow the curriculum offered through a video series. Sometimes, a missionary or missionary family will give a report on their work, or a speaker will give a biographical sketch on a hero of the faith. In the Main Service, God’s Truth is proclaimed from God’s Word. Pastor Carnett is generally the one who fills the pulpit for each Main Service. FCF is committed to the expositional preaching of God’s Word, that is, the verse-by-verse explanation and heralding of God’s Truth through entire books of the Bible. Childcare

We want to minister to the needs of parents and your children. During the Main Service, we provide qualified childcare, structured around the teaching of the Gospel and God’s Word. It is our hope that parents would feel secure dropping their children off in childcare, knowing that their child is being fed the Word of God and their physical needs are being met while the parent sits in the Main Service receiving the Word of God. However, if you would prefer to care for your little ones and need a quiet spot, we have a cry room available. If you prefer to "parent in the pew," we will support you there as well.

Communion

We observe the Lord’s Supper on the first Sunday of every month. We ask that each partaking individual be a baptized believer of Jesus Christ, in good standing with a local church, walking in humble repentance from their sin, and rejoicing in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross and in the empty tomb. 

Fellowship Meal

In God’s Word, the church is encouraged to “…do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith,” (Gal. 6:10) and, “contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality,” (Rom. 12:13). On the second Sunday of each month, the church at FCF enjoy a lunch together following the Worship Service, in the fellowship found through the transforming work of the God in the Gospel. This takes place in the Fellowship Hall and is a great time of refreshment and encouragement for the body. Visitors and guests invited!
